Hello to all.............
Just wanted to let everyone know that Si and I arrived safely in Texas and hope you all made it safely home as well. Our flight to Dallas was the last one out for the afternoon. The ones on the Delta flight board after ours had been canceled due to Hurricane Ike. As we began boarding, the flight attendant implored everyone to take their seats quickly and get ready to go (we were about 20 minutes ahead of schedule) so we could get in the air before they canceled our flight. We ended up sitting on the runway waiting in line to take off and were a little concerned that we might end of getting diverted once we were in the air. But we landed in Dallas safely after only about 25-30 minutes of turbulence towards the end of our flight.
Aaron / Jeanne --- Thank you both for a most wonderful adventure. I know it was hard keeping all of us "happy" but you did a superb job and we have so many great memories and stories to share with everyone here.
Julien --- Thanks for all the help you gave us with making sure we were taken care of and for translating everything to English for us.
Fatime --- Thanks for helping us and for showing us such affection. Keep practicing your English, so we can stay in touch.
Lyn -- Thanks for everything you shared with us, from your insight and humor, to your wet wipes and kool-aid.
Chris --- We really appreciated your humor and wit. You were a lot of fun to have on this trip.
Jerry --- We enjoyed our conversations with you and were so glad to see you feeling better and smiling Thursday morning.
Don --- You are so laid back and just kind of sat back and took it all in. I know it made decision making a little bit easier for all of us as you were so willing to just "go with the flow."
Patti --- Thanks for sharing the "spotlight" with me.
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful pictures we have amassed. And thanks to everyone for sharing our adventure.
Keep in touch. Love from Texas,
Si and Jay

I arrived in Cleveland about 20 minutes late. Stephen and Grant were waiting in baggage claim. Grant had a I love Mommy tshirt with a photo of Grant and I that was taken in Rome. That was really nice.
Keep in touch.
As for the remainder of the group, we arrived in Akron/Canton apx. 1 1/2 hours later than expected. Quite the delay leaving ATL. Our plane had to be "de-fueled" due to the excessive lbs. of carry-on luggage which made the plane exceed the weight requirements for landing in CAK. Hmmmm! Anyway, we arrived to a light rain which our pilot maneuvered with ease. Couldn't have been a better landing. And the temps were a welcome mild.
Further, we are glad to be back at Hotel Casa de Bates and although tired...just happy to be Home Sweet Hut.
We feel blessed to have shared the experience of Senegal with all of you ~ it was truly a trip of a lifetime and quite a gift.
PS: We have sunglasses & watches for sale...if anyone is in need!!!!
Jeanne and I have arrived in Akron. We got in on time today at 1 PM. She's zonked out on the couch, and we're hungry, looking forward to some lasagna that my mom is preparing. We start our tour on Tues morning, bright and early! We loved having you all in Dakar, and we're looking forward to some quiet time, and more personal time with all of you!
